You need the technical decisions made well. You do not need a technical director on the payroll for that. The decisions turn up regardless: which platform, which agency, whether a quote is fair, what happens when your only developer leaves.
This is the arrangement for that. A day or two a month with someone senior who has built the kind of thing you are deciding about. They sit on your side of the table, rather than selling you the answer.
The important part is independence. We tell you when the right answer is off the shelf software, a different supplier, or nothing. That advice is worth less to us and more to you, which is the point.
