The most common fault in a regional ads account is not the copy or the bidding. It is a budget that would have worked over one city, spread across the whole of Yorkshire until no part of it can learn.
Google needs a certain number of conversions before it can optimise anything honestly. Split thinly across Leeds, Sheffield, Hull and everywhere between, an account can run for a year and still be guessing, while the reports show plenty of activity.
Usually the right answer is to start in one place, get it working, and widen it once it pays. That is a slower-sounding plan and it reliably reaches the whole county faster than starting everywhere at once.
